NORFOLK, Va (April 14, 2010) The Navy’s newest littoral combat ship, USS Independence (LCS 2), arrives at Naval Station Norfolk, April 14, ending her maiden voyage from the Austal USA shipyards in Mobile, Ala. to its homeport of Norfolk, Va. Operations at sea during the transit consisted of continued testing of the ship’s capabilities and extensive training with the SeaRAM anti-ship missile defense weapon system.
