NATO Confirms Civilian Casualties after Air Strike in Libya

NATO headquarters in Naples (Italy) confirmed civilian casualties as a result of an airstrike on a missile site in Tripoli yesterday.

The air strike was executed in the early morning hours of Sunday, 19 June. The commanding officer of Operation ‘Unified Protector’, LtGen Charles Bouchard said, that as a result of a non-specified fault in a weapons system the intended target was missed, resulting ‘in a number of civilian casualties’.

The reason for the incident is still under investigation, how many people were injured or killed is still unknown at the moment.
